Building

The school building is located at the corner of the square Náměstí Míru and Korunní Street , right in front of the subway entrance. It is a notable functionalist structure dating from the 1930s with a rounded corner and an astronomic cupola on the roof.

The building was founded and is now owned by the St. Francis sisters.

Its aesthetic and technical interpretation was on the top level at the time it was built. The whole building is divided into two halves by an imposing staircase facing the rounded entrance corner. All the rooms are distributed more or less symmetrically in both wings of the building. The highest floor with balconies was originally used for living. A sophisticated air-conditioning arrangement allows cooling or heating throughout the whole building, including the underground gym and the school hall.

The building has suffered from some insensitive adjustments (for instance new inner plumbing, new metal main door, removal of the original French windows and damage to parquet floors), as well as common maintenance neglect.

One of the biggest advantages of the building is its modern conception. An imperfection, on the other hand, is for example the fact that we cannot use our school yard these days.
